Ryan’s story
About Ryan and FR
Films Remembered started in a bedroom. A desk, computer, VCR and a dream.
I always had an interest in memories and family history. During Covid in 2020 I found a gold mine, my grandparents film reels from the 1960s and 70s. Boy was I excited! I had a film projector and decided to watch all 50+ films and record them with the poster board and my phone. I didn’t know what I was doing, but it got the job done. I was able to preserve these moments forever, and I was excited to share these “lost” videos with the rest of the family. For the next few years, I continued learning how to digitize and preserve older forms of media and transferred more in my families home videos. This was still a hobby, but a hobby I always look forward to learning more about each and every day. Fast forward to 2023 and I officially launched Films Remembered as a business. I am working full-time as a golf professional, but have time to digitize videos and photos for customers in the evening and on the weekend. In the fall of 2025 I decided to leave my job as a professional and go all in on Films Remembered. A big risk but a risk I felt strongly about taking. My home office had been transformed into my digitizing studio and I was able to make it work, but I knew I wanted to continue to grow and expand. On April 2, 2026 I decided to open the storefront and hop sound. A very exciting day for me, my family and the business! A storefront has now given Films member the ability to meet customers, face-to-face, sit down, and talk about their project. We can look through their videos and photographs together, and I can give the customer what they deserve, peace of mind and trust. These memories are not only special, but irreplaceable. And everyone is comfortable mailing their tapes to a big mailing company and sending their memories across the country. Films Remembered gives this community a reason to stay local and create a relationship with a local business.
Films Remembered is a one-man show as well. I am the ONLY person who will handle your memories and creating a sense of trust from the start is incredibly important to me. I am glad you found Films Remembered and took a little time to learn about our story. We love preserving the past and will always treat your priceless memories as if they were our own!
Ryan Jahn, owner.
